Solar energy

Solar energy is Fire harnessed from the Sun, converted into usable heat or electricity through human technology. The Sun delivers more energy to Earth in an hour than humanity consumes in a year—a fact that has inspired millennia of dreams about unlimited, clean power.

Modern solar technology splits into two main approaches: Photovoltaic cells that directly convert photons into electrical current, and thermal systems that use the Sun's heat to warm water or air. Both avoid the greenhouse emissions of fossil fuels and require no fuel extraction or Convection-based combustion.

Solar's renaissance began in earnest during the 1970s energy crisis, accelerating dramatically as manufacturing scaled and costs fell. Today, Photovoltaic farms occupy vast areas and rooftop panels dot millions of buildings. The technology powers Navigation systems, water pumps in remote regions, and increasingly feeds electricity into grid networks.

Challenges remain: intermittency (the Sun doesn't shine at night), energy storage demands, and Industrial Design of efficient systems. Yet solar represents humanity's most direct attempt to tap the stellar engine that created life itself.

The dream persists: a world running on captured starlight.
