Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to computer systems designed to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence. These include learning from experience, recognizing patterns, understanding language, making decisions, and solving problems.

The field emerged in the 1950s when pioneers like Alan Turing and John McCarthy asked: can machines think? Today, AI powers everything from voice assistants to medical diagnosis to creative writing. Machine Learning, a subset of AI, enables systems to improve through data rather than explicit programming.

Modern AI takes many forms. Neural Networks, inspired by biological brains, underpin today's most powerful systems. Large Language Models like those used in conversational AI have recently captured public imagination. Other approaches include Robotics, Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing.

The field sits at an intersection of philosophy, neuroscience, and Computer Science. Practically, it raises questions about Ethics, employment, and whether superintelligent AI might one day exist. Philosophically, it probes what "intelligence" even means—and whether silicon can ever truly possess it.

AI's impact is already profound. It accelerates Scientific Discovery, shapes how we access information through Search Engines, and influences decisions in law, medicine, and finance. Yet the field remains young, full of open questions about its capabilities and limits.
