Subatomic particles

The fundamental building blocks that compose atoms and all ordinary matter. Subatomic particles exist at scales billions of times smaller than a grain of sand, yet they determine the chemical and physical properties of everything we observe.

The three most familiar are Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons—particles that cluster into atoms. Each particle has an antimatter twin, and many exist for only fractions of a second before decaying.

Their behavior defies everyday intuition. Particles can exist in superposition, occupy multiple states simultaneously, and influence each other across vast distances through entanglement. Their study has illuminated the universe's deepest workings—from stellar nuclear fusion to the Big Bang itself.

Understanding subatomic particles unlocked modern computing, medicine, and energy production. Yet mysteries remain: what is Dark matter? Do particles have further hidden structure? The quest continues.
